Together we will explore sculpture and materials through togetherness and one to one tutoring. This is a foundational course designed to provide students with the building blocks to develop their own artistic works.
Together we will develop our material understanding, critical thinking, scale of our own work, explore visible and invisible as well as sustainability in this course.
The goal is to have one artwork or a series of artworks at the end of the course. Come with an open mind and heart: together we will construct our own understanding of sculpture.

TIMES, DATES and COMMITMENT:
This is a six weeks course 30th March – 6th of May.
It is an intensive workshop on Mondays and Wednesdays 10:15 (ferry from the Market Square at 9:40) to 15:20 (ferry from Suomenlinna at 15:40). During the first day, we will have an orientation to Art School Maa and its customs.

FORM OF STUDIES:
Teaching days are at Art School Maa. A full schedule will be provided before the course begins. Teaching happens mostly in Finnish, but communication in English is also possible.
HOW MUCH AND WHAT ARE YOU PAYING FOR:
The course fee is 300€.
The course fee consists of teachers’ salaries (22€ per hour + social expenses) and required working hours for coordinating the course. Art School Maa is a non-profit meaning all extra expenses go to the maintenance costs and rents.

Tutkimme yhdessä veistotaidetta ja materiaaleja ryhmätyöskentelyn ja henkilökohtaisen ohjauksen kautta. Tämä on peruskurssi, jonka tarkoituksena on tarjota opiskelijoille rakennuspalikoita omien taideteostensa kehittämiseen.
Yhdessä kehitämme materiaalien ymmärtämistä, kriittistä ajattelua ja omien töidemme mittakaavaa. Kurssilla tutkimme näkyvää ja näkymätöntä sekä materiaaleihin liittyvää kestävyyttä.
Kurssin tavoitteena on, että kurssin lopussa on valmis yksi taideteos tai sarja taideteoksia. Tule avoimin mielin ja sydämin, niin rakennamme yhdessä oman ymmärryksemme veistostaiteesta.

AIKATAULU, PÄIVÄMÄÄRÄT ja SITOUTUMINEN:
Kurssi kestää viisi viikkoa, 23. helmikuuta – 25. maaliskuuta.
Se on intensiivinen työpaja, joka järjestetään maanantaisin ja keskiviikkoisin klo 10.15 (lautta Kauppatorilta klo 9.40) – 15.20 (lautta Suomenlinnasta klo 15.40). Kurssin aluksi perehdytään Taidekoulu Maahan ja sen toimintatapoihin.

OPINTOJEN MUOTOO:
Opetuspäivät ovat taidekoulu Maassa. Täydellinen aikataulu toimitetaan ennen kurssin alkua. Opetus tapahtuu pääasiassa suomeksi, mutta englanti on myös mahdollista.
KUINKA PALJON JA MISTÄ MAKSAT:
Kurssimaksu on 300 €.
Kurssimaksu koostuu opettajien palkoista (22 €/tunti + sosiaalikulut) ja kurssin koordinointiin tarvittavista työtunneista. Taidekoulu Maa on voittoa tavoittelematon organisaatio, joten kaikki ylimääräiset kulut menevät ylläpitokustannuksiin ja vuokriin.
